About This Winter Art Print Called “Holiday Snow”
Just outside of my hometown of Yadkinville, stands an old rundown building made of native field stone. When driving by one day a few years ago just after a big snow, I could not help but notice this little building nestled under a big Oak tree in a pasture. Each yellow-brown rock was delicately dusted with the flakes of our first winter snow. Then there was the weathered white board door with it’s over sized hinges and old rusty nails. So many times, I had passed by this scene never really noticing it’s quaint beauty.
Later that winter, I was exhibiting my artwork at an arts and antiques show in Richmond, Virginia. After we had finished putting up our display, Felix and I decided to walk around the show area to see what other types of things were in the show. Just a few sections down from my place I saw an antique display with the little sleigh featured in this painting. Unfortunately, the dealer was using it for display only. It wasn’t for sale. I mentioned that I had the perfect scene to place it in for a painting. He was very understanding and graciously offered to let me take several pictures of it. Except for the snow, it was basically displayed as you see with sticks of kindling, bright red apples and boughs of pine. Adding the big pine wreath with it’s apples of red onto the door was just the final touch for this little country art print holiday scene. When the painting was done and the prints were made, I made sure to send that fellow vendor a framed print.
